This Week's Shows - July 3rd 2009

Guttentag, Anthony here reporting from Berlin, Germany. My buddy Alex Peruyera kindly let me use his laptop for this special report. Back in May - Alex, Fawad, Zee Garcia and I and a few other friends made a short film for the Miami 24 Hour Film Race. This morning they announced the winners and we came in as second runner-ups. Notably however, we won Best Acting Enssemble of which we are very proud. Zee and I developed the script using Improv and it was written with Alex's help.

On the improv front looks like JTF has a busy weekend ahead, Laughing Gas has only one show this week on Friday, no Impromedy shows this week and our friends in West Palm Beach have a show on Thursday.

This Week's Shows - June 24, 2009

Okeedokee, I'll be brief this week, next week's post might be a bit incomplete unless I hear from everyone by noon this Saturday. I'm going on vacation and I ain't taking my laptop or my iPhone. Anyways what I am going to be doing before that is performing with Igdy In The Park at JTF this Friday at 9pm, so I hope to see some of you guys there. Also on Friday, Impromedy presents Conditional Ultimatum at the Roxy and Laughing Gas has an 11pm show as usual, at the Main Street Playhouse (Saturday too). On Saturday, The Jove returns for their single show in June. Sunday JTF presents their Level 4 Graduation show 8:30 pm in their theater. Last but not least, Mod 27 has their FINAL SHOW and a roast to Dustin Sharpe who is moving on to Chicago in July. I'd like to say more about Mod 27 as they appear to be cool guys but the stars never aligned in a way that I could talk to them at length. Either way, it is sad to see them go but I know the guys will still be around and we'll post whatever shows they dream up here at The Harold.

This Week's Shows - June 17, 2009

Oi! we've got some exciting stuff in the queue for you mateys. Our buddy Jeff Quintana has been a busy bee of late. He started a new FaceBook group for improvisers in SoFla, check it out at South Florida Improvisers. Impromedy's BATTLEPROV is back this friday. In addition to Impromedy duties, Jeff is also getting some off brand Improv going at Buck15 in South Beach, check it out this Wednesday and Sunday, I'll be there. Model Citizens performs at JTF this week, my good buddy Kimberly Cox who is one of the model citizens and an awesome improv player. Catch their monthly gig at JTF, Friday. There are no shows north of the county line this week, but Mod27 has found a venue for their last shows, watch for next week's edition of This Week's Shows. Laughing Gas continues expanding their cast and their 17th season goes on this Friday and Saturday at 11pm.

This Week's Shows - June 12, 2009

No news is good news, huh?... Nah! there's some news. Mod27 will announce the venue and date of their last show sometime today, stay tuned to The Miami Harold for the particulars. I've added a contact page to the Harold so all you have to do is click on the Contact Us link that appears at the top left corner of every page to drop us a line, or if you'd like to constribute some news to the blog, you may contact us through there as well. Impromedy goes back to their original venue in room 150 of the Deuxieme Maison building at FIU University Park campus this week, (this show may or may not end up being free, I'll update the blog as soon as I know). JTF mixes their cast for The Mix. Laughing Gas continues their seventeenth season with Friday and Saturday shows with the return of the funniest gay man I know, Damian Lang. I know what you are thinking: Anthony you shouldn't label people, blah, blah, blah... But Damian is really, really funny.

This Week's Shows - June 5, 2009

Horrible news from West Palm Beach. One of my favorite venues in SoFla has shutdown, suddenly and without any notice - not even to their employees. According to wptv.com the Cuillo Centre is closing for the summer but it does not sound good. This is a terrible thing for Mod27 who have been performing at the Cuillo for years, they have been left scrambling to find a venue for their last show as Mod27 and have been forced to cancel this week's show, hopefully they'll find a place before Dustin Sharpe has to leave for Chicago. We at the Miami Harold wish Tom O'Donnell and Mod27 and their offshoot troupes the best of luck. Closer to home, Impromedy returns to the Roxy theater stage with RETIED!: The Double Windsor. JTF has a full plate of shows at their theater. Laughing Gas continues their 17th season, they are still holding open auditions so make sure to visit the site - this would be a great chance for you to learn Improv from one of the best improv and acting teachers in Miami, Gerald Owens.
